Baurzhan Tokbolatovich Kankin

Baurzhan Kankin was born on June 23, 1987 in Ekibastuz, Pavlodar region.

He received his higher education at Suleiman Demirel University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics. Then he received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the same university, and is also a graduate of Stanford GSB Alumni (2024-2025).

He started his professional career in the banking and financial sector. He worked at ABN AMRO Bank (Royal Bank of Scotland), then at the international audit and consulting company Deloitte, where he was engaged in auditing and financial analysis. Subsequently, he held senior positions in Temirbank, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, the Swiss bank Union Bancaire Privée, as well as in a number of government and quasi-government organizations.

Over the years, Baurzhan Kankin has held positions:

• Deputy Chairman of the Board of SEC Astana JSC;
• Chairman of the Management Board of SEC Shymkent JSC;
• CEO of ACF PIT Tech Garden, where he oversaw the implementation of more than 200 industrial and innovative projects with a total value of over $100 million;
• head of major investment and public-private projects, as well as projects to attract foreign investment.

Currently, Baurzhan Kankin is a venture investor, and also holds the position of Chief Customer Officer, member of the Board of Astana International Financial Center. He is responsible for interacting with investors, developing client services, attracting new participants and strengthening the AIFC's position as an international financial center.

In addition to his main activities, Baurzhan Kankin participated in the work of supervisory and advisory bodies related to the development of investment policy, corporate governance and the innovation ecosystem of Kazakhstan. Over the years, he has gained significant experience in corporate governance, auditing, finance, investment activities and the implementation of major infrastructure projects.

He is a member of the AIX Board of Directors.
