For the first time in Kazakhstan, a report on the direct investment market has been prepared.

As part of the activities of Kazyna Capital Management JSC on the development of the private equity market in Kazakhstan, together with the leading international consulting company KPMG, the first public Report on the private equity market in 10 years was prepared. The research is unique in that it summarized quantitative data on the private equity market, data on players and transactions, as well as the opinions of market participants. The report, which will be made publicly available on the company's website, compensates for the strong lack of information on the current situation in the investment market. As part of the preparation of the Report, a large-scale work was carried out to collect and analyze information: data on the level of activity and activities of key players in the private equity market for the period 2008-2018 were provided, a survey was conducted of 35 participants in the private equity market and more than 100 entrepreneurs to determine the constraining factors and develop practical recommendations for the development of the direct investment market. The study provides basic information about what exactly contributes to the improvement of the eco - system of the market, makes proposals for the further development of the market. The reason for organizing research on the private equity market was the undeveloped ecosystem of the market, the lack of transparency in transactions. “Today, in Kazakhstan, the issue of developing the private sector of the economy is critical. According to international experience, a direct investment instrument can thereby become a catalyst for positive change, providing new business opportunities. However, one of the main problems in the development of the direct investment market in Kazakhstan is the lack of information. Moreover, until now, there was no data on either the volume of transactions or other indicators. We, as a major representative of the market, have long wanted to conduct this research, and we are confident that the Report will be useful, "said Ardak Kasymbek, Chairman of the Board of Kazyna Capital Management JSC. The data obtained revealed not only the fundamental problems of the direct investment market, but also the possibilities for its further development. The study, carried out at the initiative of Kazyna Capital Management JSC, is the first large-scale attempt to study the market and provide a guide to local and foreign investors.
