Almaty, May 6, 2026 — Qazaqstan Investment Corporation (QIC) JSC participated in the annual investment conference Tansar Capital Investors Annual Meeting 2026, which was held at Swissôtel Almaty.

During the event, QIC representatives Gabbas Yerzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of QIC and Marcia Favale, Independent Director, member of the Board of Directors of QIC, spoke at a panel session on the topic: "The role of private capital in the development of the investment ecosystem in Central Asia."

During the discussion, the participants noted that Central Asia remains an underinvested region. At the same time, the market is gradually transforming from one—time transactions to more structured models, including platform investment.

In his speech, G. Yerzhanov outlined the key areas of QIC's activity as an institutional investor playing a systemic role in shaping the private equity and venture capital markets. The company participates in the management of investment funds and management companies, develops local teams and contributes to the formation of the venture ecosystem, including through participation in Alem Ventures Fund initiative.

Special attention was paid to issues of international cooperation, including interaction with state financial and investment institutions of the People's Republic of China, as well as participation in new investment platforms, including in the format of co-general partnership (co-GP) through the management companies of the QIC group.

G. Yerzhanov emphasized that, with the support of its shareholder, Baiterek National Investment Holding JSC, QIC invested more than $1 billion in real-sector projects in 2025.

According to him, one of the key constraints for the inflow of institutional capital to the region remains the level of maturity of the investment environment:

"The main challenge is the limited number of managers with a proven track record, insufficient market depth, and the need to build a trust infrastructure, from transparent rules to clear exit strategies."

He also noted the transformation of the role of institutional investors:

"Today, our task is not only to invest, but also to shape the market: to attract international capital, develop management teams and create scalable investment platforms."

Additionally, it was emphasized that the activities of public investment institutions in the private equity and venture capital markets are subject to a number of restrictions. At the same time, government support measures, including subsidies and incentives for small and medium-sized businesses, create the foundation for further growth of the sector.

"Despite the objective limitations associated with the state nature of the institute, we are on a sustainable development trajectory and strive to use the available tools as effectively as possible," G. Yerzhanov said.

Qazaqstan Investment Corporation JSC, part of the structure of Baiterek National Investment Holding JSC, will continue to implement strategic initiatives aimed at developing the private equity and venture capital markets, attracting private and international capital, as well as forming a sustainable investment ecosystem in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
