Ainur Kuatova took part in the Second International Congress ECOJER "Green Life Better"

As part of the Second International Congress of ECOJER “Green Life Better”, the session of “Tools for Sustainable Financing” was held on June 2, 2022, in Nur-Sultan. The speakers of the session were Ainur Kuatova - Chairman of the Board, Kazyna Capital Management JSC; Gaukhar Buribayeva - Chairman of the Board, Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund JSC; Sean Kidney - General Director, Climate Bonds Initiative; Lyazzat Satiyeva - Deputy Chairman of the Board, Eurasian Bank; Oleg Khmelev - UNDP International Technical Advisor; Lyazzat Ibragimova - Chairman of the Board, Otbasy Bank JSC; Yermek Mazhekenov - Deputy Chairman of the Board, KASE; Vasily Kalabin - ESG Expert, Manager, PwC Kazakhstan. The session focused on the use of financial products and services such as loans, insurance, shares, private equity and bonds in green projects. The speakers talked about how the legal environment is provided in Kazakhstan for the issuance of green financing instruments. In turn, Ainur Kuatova - the Chairman of the Board covered a topic of existing instruments in the field of sustainable financing and further plans of the company to strengthen the practice of responsible investment by introducing ESG principles. As it was noted by Ainur Kuatova, KCM, together with external partners, is working on the development of the Green equity tool. The introduction of the Green equity tool will expand the pipeline of environmentally friendly, energy efficient and low-carbon projects, as well as carry out external verification of projects for compliance with the criteria of "green" projects, including the "green" taxonomy. Moreover, KCM is considering the possibility of creating an infrastructure and climate fund focused on projects in the field of mitigation and adaptation to climate change involving the local institutional investors and international financial organizations. The creation of such a fund will help Kazakhstan to achieve its ambitious goal in carbon neutrality by 2060. At the end of the session, the Chairman of the Management Board of KCM emphasized that since 2020 KCM has decided to prepare a separate report on sustainable development to be formed in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Standards in the field of sustainable development. As part of the forum, Ainur Kuatova also took part in the Ceremony for private companies to join the accelerator to reduce the gender gap in Kazakhstan implemented in cooperation with the World Economic Forum.
